Haye Zainab, Zainab ×3
Dekho aye Kufiyo, main Zainab-e-dilgeer hoon ×4
Sar nange, mujhe kyun hai phiraya ×2
Main waris-e-Tatheer hoon
Dekho aye Kufiyo...
Aal-e-Ahmad ka tamasha dekhne aaye ho kyun
Apni ghairat ka janaza dekhne aaye ho kyun
Be-badan naizon pe laasha dekhne aaye ho kyun
Main usi Mazloom-e-Karbal ×2 ki dukhi hamsheer hoon
Dekho aye Kufiyo...
Jiska sajda qalb-e-Yazdan mein samaya woh Hussain
Sar pe apne jisko teeron ne uthaya woh Hussain
Main usi Mazloom-e-Karbal ×2 ki dukhi hamsheer hoon
Dekho aye Kufiyo...
Poochhte ho mujh se rone ka sabab, ahl-e-jafa
Hai tumhari auratein parde mein aur main be-rida
Mere bachche, mera bhai, be-khata maara gaya
Main usi Mazloom-e-Karbal ×2 ki dukhi hamsheer hoon
Dekho aye Kufiyo...
Dekho aye Kufiyo...
Dekho aye Kufiyo...
Jiska Ghazi so gaya darya kinare tashna-lab
Kat gaye baazu Jari ke, aur kya hoga ghazab
Be-rida main ho gayi hoon jiske marne ke sabab
Main usi Mazloom-e-Karbal ×2 ki dukhi hamsheer hoon
Dekho aye Kufiyo...
Aye Khuda-e-Lam-Yazal, be-gor hai bhai mera
Main usi Mazloom-e-Karbal ×2 ki dukhi hamsheer hoon
Dekho aye Kufiyo...
Sar nange, mujhe kyun hai phiraya ×2
Main waris-e-Tatheer hoon
Dekho aye Kufiyo, main Zainab-e-dilgeer hoon ×3
Alas Zainab, Zainab ×3
Look, O people of Kufa, I am grief-stricken Zainab ×4
Why have I been paraded bareheaded? ×2
I am the heir of Tatheer.
Look, O people of Kufa...
Why have you come to watch the family of Ahmad as a spectacle?
Why have you come to witness the funeral of your own honour?
Why have you come to see bodies without bodies upon spears?
I am the grieving sister ×2 of that oppressed one of Karbala.
Look, O people of Kufa...
The one whose prostration settled in the heart of the Divine — that was Hussain.
The one who fell from the horse and did not rise again from the ground — that was Hussain.
The one whom arrows lifted upon themselves — that was Hussain.
I am the grieving sister ×2 of that oppressed one of Karbala.
Look, O people of Kufa...
You ask me, O people of cruelty, why I weep.
Your women are behind veils, while I am without a veil.
My children and my brother were killed without any fault.
I am the grieving sister ×2 of that oppressed one of Karbala.
Look, O people of Kufa...
The one who still lies shroudless upon the burning earth,
The one for whom tears are still sown upon the ground,
The one who, even from the spear, weeps over my unveiled state —
I am the grieving sister ×2 of that oppressed one of Karbala.
Look, O people of Kufa...
The one whose neck was pierced after thirteen strikes,
Whose head was cut, and whose headless body was left upon the dust,
Then to that very body they brought me bareheaded.
I am the grieving sister ×2 of that oppressed one of Karbala.
Look, O people of Kufa...
The one whose Ghazi slept thirsty beside the river,
Whose brave one’s arms were severed — what greater calamity could there be?
Because of his martyrdom, I became unveiled.
I am the grieving sister ×2 of that oppressed one of Karbala.
Look, O people of Kufa...
The one who carried Akbar’s body upon his aged shoulders,
The one who buried Asghar’s body in the burning dust,
The King of land and sea whose body lies shroudless and without a grave —
I am the grieving sister ×2 of that oppressed one of Karbala.
Look, O people of Kufa...
In the court of Sham, Rehan, there was crying and lamentation,
When the uncovered sister of a shroudless brother said:
“O Eternal God, my brother lies without a grave.”
I am the grieving sister ×2 of that oppressed one of Karbala.
Look, O people of Kufa...
Why have I been paraded bareheaded? ×2
I am the heir of Tatheer.
Look, O people of Kufa, I am grief-stricken Zainab ×3
