Aye Chand Karbala Ke

Aye Chand, Karbala Ke is a moving Salaam that addresses the moon as a witness to the tragedy of Karbala. The kalaam remembers the martyrs of Karbala, including Hazrat Abbas (AS), Hazrat Ali Akbar (AS), Hazrat Ali Asghar (AS), Hazrat Qasim (AS), the sons of Muslim, and Imam Sajjad (AS), while reflecting on the sorrow of the Ahlulbayt after Ashura.
O moon, you must have witnessed Karbala, When the stars of the highest heaven descended upon this land. O moon... O moon, the moon of Hashim shines here in splendour. Take your share of light from here. O moon... O moon, always keep this land cool and gentle, For those who rest here are the beloved ones of Zahra. O moon... They are the masters of Tasneem, Salsabeel, and Kausar, Yet they were martyred thirsty beside this river. O moon... Brave and beloved ones like Hurr and Habib Were martyred here as the helpers of the King of Faith. O moon... Here too, through cruelty and oppression, The two beloved sons of Muslim, the two sons of Zainab, were martyred. O moon... Qasim’s body was being trampled in the battlefield, While Abbas and Akbar gathered his scattered pieces. O moon... Here the arms of Abbas the loyal were severed. He was not granted leave for battle, and he could not even bring water back. O moon... Upon this land, Sarwar also passed through this grief, When the one who resembled Mustafa was struck in the chest by a spear. O moon... Sarwar brought a moon-faced child to be given water, But Hurmala slaughtered him with an arrow of cruelty. O moon... The son’s neck was pierced, and the father’s arm was wounded. Both departed this world thirsty, writhing in pain. O moon... In that wilderness, a little girl was searching for her Father, While headless bodies lay scattered around. O moon... Then you too saw that grief-stricken child, Sleeping upon the chest of her headless Father, clinging to him. O moon... Here, in the first part of the night, the arms of the Haram were bound, And from this land Sajjad departed with his head lowered. O moon... Shehzada-e-Jinnah alone is the master of Karbala. Who has the courage to come unless he himself calls them? O moon... Those who have reached Karbala, O Sibt-e-Jafar, May destiny show them this day again. O moon... O moon, you must have witnessed Karbala, When the stars of the highest heaven descended upon this land.
